This isn't an Army I'm building to be competitive, you want a second FOC go nuts :P) 4 Marines (2 per tac squad) and 2 Spotlights for my Dreads is 58 points. So I have 60 points available to me to get to 2000 (or 59, whatever. Troops: 5-man Tactical Squad 1 Plasma Pistol, 1 Missile Launcherĥ-man Tactical Squad 1 Power Sword, 1 FlamerĮlites: 10-man Legion of the Damned 1 Plasma Pistol, 1 Flamer, 1 Heavy Flamerġ0-man Legion of the Damned 1 Flamer, 1 Heavy Bolterġ0-man Legion of the Damned 1 Power Sword, 1 Meltagun, 1 MultimeltaĢ Contemptor Mortis and 2 Lucius Drop Pods are 440 points So, this is my base list: HQ: (totally not) Vulkan He'StanĬommand Squad 2 Power Swords, 4 Combi-Meltas, 1 Plasma Pistol, 5 Storm Shields Drop Pod +Locator Beacon And in order to allow it to deep strike I need to have it arrive in a Lucius Pattern drop pod, which is Fast Attack: another FOC slot I didn't previous have anything to fill.
But the Contemptor Mortis is Heavy Support. I can't field straight Contemptors becasue (as with pretty much everything for Space Marines) they occupy precious elites slots.
My realization that the Contemptor has an invulnerable save intrigues me, however. So I thought my army was "full" (though it did drop down to 1500points) not seeing anything else that fit my requirements outside my already occupied Elite slots. Give them Jump Packs and Storm Shields, they can deep strike in, and 3++ save, and can "Teleport" around to face the enemy.īut the new Codex kiboshed that by making Vanguard Elites. I got as far as 2000 points in the last codex, with plans to expand by way of Vanguard squads. When I started this army in the last codex I set myself two requirements for any unit I was going to have in it in as far as teh Legion was concerned: 1) Invulnerable save (3+ if at all possible) and 2) deep strike capable. So, inspired by /u/Sparta436 's amazing Contemptor dreadnought I've been looking at my Legion of the Damned army again.
